Tined Weeder AEROSTAR PDF Print

70% of the weeds can be destroyed with mechanical weed control. The remaining 30% do not damage the culture plant decisively. From the mentioned 70 %, 70 % of the weeeds are covered in the germination stage and only 30 % of the weeds are destroyed by being pulled out.

Therefore correct timing of the operation is crucial.

The Einböck Tined Weeder AEROSTAR has a line spacing of 2,5 cm (lichter spacing of 1,85 cm), and therfore a tine number of 40 pieces per m working width. The tine number and the exact tine guidance with a 28 mm long plastic holder make a higher tine vibration in connection with the working width. This tine vibration makes a better preparation of the soil, so more pourable soil, which covers the weeds, is created.

If you plan to use the machine primarily for the cultivation of grassland, please see the section Machines for grassland care / After- and under sowing machinery.

The machine is pulled behind the tractor on 2 or 4 support wheels, which provide a consistent depth for the 6-tined weeder sections. The tines can be brought in the nessecary slating position with an adjusting lever.

The pipe carrying the tines is stable and does not twist - this guarantees the same adjustment of the tines over the full lenght of the pipe, what again ensures an equal aggressivity of the tines in working position. Especially in hard soil conditions this is extremely important. To keep the tines on the correct track is ensured by the exact guidance of the plastic holders. Therefore the tines are always kept in driving direction what makes them vibrate stronger. With these holders the tines cannot twist or get loose. The spring-coils are positioned under the holder, therefore the tines can vibrate more easy and all movements come out of the spring.

Tined Weeder, trailed:
A sturdy tube frame with a half-timbered construction, incorporating a large triangular brace, prevents the weeder from forward as well as backward swinging. All sections of the Einböck Trailed Weeder are suspended from a suspended beam. These suspended beams are controlled hydraulically (Hydraulic Balance Compensator).

Uneven patches of the ground surface can be optimally compensated by using the suspended beam guide. Of course, all hydraulic functions can be controlled from the cabin seat by an electro-magnetic control valve.

A better solution!

Control Weeds with a tine weeder

The Einbock Tine Weeder
Superior Mechanical Weed Control for Serious Producers

Putting you in control of weeds instead of weeds in control of your crop. Increase your yields.

Controlling Weeds in your crop is a serious issue.  Effective and early weed control is critical for high yields. A good Cultivator/Tined Weeder is a must. The Einbock is simply the best there is for the serious producer. The job it does, the superior craftsmanship and other features not found in other weeders makes it a tool that is becoming indispensable for a growing number of successful organic farms.

Find out why some of the most successful organic producers use an Einbock. Don’t just take our word for it. Visit our testimonial page to read what our customers have to say. Check back often for new updates-5 new post coming in September. Better yet, call us, we will proudly put you in touch with an owner nearest to you.

The Einbock Tined Weeder works in two ways: Pulling up some of the weeds and burying some. Seventy percent of the success in using tine weeders stems from covering and choking germinating weeds with topsoil. Thirty percent of the elimination results are achieved by uprooting them. Either way, the Einbock Tined Weeder is an effective way to put you in control of your weeds, instead of the weeds in control of your crop!

The Tined Weeder is used in "Blind Cultivation" and as crops mature. "Blind Cultivation" is also known as "Broadcast Weed Cultivation" "Blind Cultivation" is done before the weed seedlings are even seen. This would be when the weeds are the smallest and therefore more vulnerable. At this stage they are susceptible to disturbances, such as the action of a tined weeder. When the soil is disturbed at this time it becomes too dry and loose for the seed to grow in. Using a tined weeder disrupts the soil, one half to one inch typically.  Using the tined weeder when the weeds are at the white root or cotylen is best. Fighting weeds has to be timed around soil cultivation and sowing. Although tined weeding is most effective before the new plants have emerged, it is still possible to use the weeder once the weeds have passed the small-leaf stage by having a more intense weeding procedure- more pressure on the tines or a steeper angle.  It is important to choose the best time to use the Tined Weeder. Put in use at noon, in sunny weather, will dry up the weed seedlings that are pulled up and eliminate them.

Used in many crops and pasture too! Successful in grain, corn, beetroot, potatoes, peas, soybeans, tomatoes, peanut, cotton, onions, strawberries and grassland etc. Based on the age of the plants, your speed and operation will vary. The tined weeder fits perfectly into any over all cultivation concept, which range from crop rotation, fertilization and  improving soil to mechanical weed control. A tined weeder can be successfully used from early to late in the crop cycle. When working in more mature crops, tines can  be removed so the plants will not be harmed.

It is important to adjust tines to fit a specific operation.  You may feel uncomfortable the first time you use a Tined Weeder. You may think you are doing more harm than good, but with practice, you will more fully understand how you can use a weeder and which settings work best. It will be up to you-because you know best about your soil, conditions and weather- to determine the ideal tine setting, working depth, and speed

Proven Financial Benefits

This was taken directly from an email sent to us by one of our most successful organic producers- he owns 6 Einbock Tined Weeders ( he used to run Kovar) He has counseled with many producers on the use of a tined weeder, why they should buy Einbock and how the Einbock can increase yields and profits.

This is how I did the math with him:

"He said he did some sort of no-till, minimum till, or zone-till of soybeans into corn stubble. So the weeder would probably not work there (it wouldrake up the corn stalks.)  But he said he had 60 acres of corn, and he wasn’t thinking that would be enough to justify the investment (I think he said $7,000).  I asked if he thought that that the one year of 60 acres should pay for the entire weeder.  He said no, that he would figure it over 5 years.  I said let’s use 4 years.  $7,000/4 years= $1,750.00.  I said let’s round this up to $2,000, because he’ll need to order it, receive it, and put it together.  I divided the $2,000 by 60 acres and came up with $33 per acre.  I asked him what he gets for a bushel of corn.  I think he said $8.00.  I said let’s leave some margin in case the price declines a bit and use $7.50.  Then divided $33 per acre by $7.50 per bushel and came up with 4.4 bushels per acre of corn.  I then asked what he got for yields and I think he said something like 100-125 bushels per acre.  I then discussed with him how, clearly, the improved yield that he could expect to achieve by using this superior weed management tool would be expected to exceed 4.4 bushels per acre.  I would expect that it would be some multiple of this - if I had to estimate it would be perhaps 5 times this, or 22 bushels per acre.  We then discussed how it would really depend on the year if it would be as low as 4.4 bushels, but could quite possibly be 44 bushels; it just depends on the season.  But that clearly the investment was a no-brainer, because not only does it pay for itself fast, but it is engineered and built to exacting standards and so, on top of this, would last him many, many years."

Why you need to order months in advance:

We order directly from the manufacture and ship directly to you. In most states where we ship to there are no dealers. We do this as an effort to keep prices down. The Einbock Tined Weeder is not the type of equipment that requires a service department for repairs, therefore, it is not necessary to have a dealer with a service department near you. We keep parts in stock and ship them out as soon as we get an order from you. You will find that you will go long periods of time before needing to replace your tines.

In order for you to receive your tine weeder in time, we have to place orders early enough to allow for production and ocean shipping time. Demand is high world wide for the Einbock Product line. We work very closely with the facilty to ensure we get our orders in the production line as early as possible.

It is important for you to order early !!

Usage Guide

Using the Tined Weeder to eliminate Weeds:
70% of the success in using a tined weeder comes from covering and chocking the germinating weeds with topsoil or exposing it to the sun and wind. 30% of the elimination results are achieved by uprooting the weeds. It is during germination or the small leaf stage of the weed that the success rate of eliminating the weed is the highest.

Blind Cultivation, just before the crop comes up, is usually highly successful. When the weeds are very small and most sensitive to being disturbed is the best time to remove the initial flush of weeds in your crop.

You, who know best about your soil conditions and the weather, will determine the best tine, working depth, tine setting and speed, needed to obtain the best results.

Boosts Soil Vitality-Keeps weeds in check:
The tined weeder fits perfectly into your overall cultivation concept, which ranges from crop rotation, fertilization, improving your soil to mechanical weeder control.
In addition to helping you keep you weeds in check, there are other advantages to using the Einbock Tined Weeder:

  • Soil aeration
  • Regulation of water content by interrupting the capillary effect
  • Enhancing soil coherence

F.A.Q.

1. When can a tined weeder be used?
You can use the Einbock tine weeder from pre-emerge to laying by. In pre-emerge the weeder destroys 70% of the weeds by covering them with lose dirt so they can’t grow. Others are pulled up. The time of day- sunny - is best.

2. How often do I have to replace the tines?
The Einbock tines are very durable. The wear depends on your soil type and use. They often last 3-4 years before they need replacing.

3. Won’t It Destroy My Plants?
Not if you use it at the correct time. You can use the weeder at blind cultivation or after plants emerge. With the Einbock you can adjust the downpressure with one lever

4. Why use a tined weeder?
The tines not only get in between the rows, it gets in between the plants too.
